Sven has spent close to two decades working across clean technology, environmental innovation, and sustainable infrastructure. Over the years, his focus has stayed consistent: helping early-stage technologies move out of theory and into the real world.
Before joining FM Hydro, Sven held senior leadership roles across renewable energy, ag-tech, biotech, and environmental projects. He’s worked on everything from operational strategy to funding, scaling, and execution. In roles like COO at ecoation and later at Sustainable Development Technology Canada, he helped teams turn promising ideas into working systems by navigating the less-visible but critical parts of innovation, like operations, funding structures, and long-term planning.
At FM Hydro, Sven leads with that same mindset.
His role isn’t just about running a company day to day. He helps shape our long-term strategy, supports fundraising efforts, and ensures that what we’re building is technically sound, commercially realistic, and aligned with how energy infrastructure actually gets deployed. That perspective matters, especially in a sector like hydrokinetic energy, where credibility and reliability are everything.
Sven has also helped secure over $7 million in non-dilutive funding across his career, supporting clean technology development without losing sight of long-term impact. That experience continues to guide how we think about growth – deliberately, responsibly, and with a clear understanding of the systems we’re operating in.
